2007 Ned Kelly Awards
Behind the Night Bazaar was short-listed for a 2007 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Book.
2004 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards
I won the 2004 Prize for an Unpublished Manuscript by an Emerging Victorian Writer for my work Thai Died, described by the judges as “both an engrossing crime thriller and an exploration of skewed notions of love, social responsibility and cultural superiority.” It was published in 2006 as Behind the Night Bazaar by The Text Publishing Company.
1998 Scarlet Stiletto Awards
My short story, The Mole on the Temple, won the Cosmo’s Books Third Prize in the 1998 Scarlet Stiletto Awards. The story introduces Bangkok-based detective Jayne Keeney, the main character in Behind the Night Bazaar, as she investigates a card scam in the Thai capital.
1988 Farrago creative writing competition
My feminist fairytale, ‘Sunray and the Lunatic’, won the creative writing competition run by the University of Melbourne newspaper, Farrago, in 1988.
